A Serene Escape: Discovering Kaeo in Northland
Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting a unique project where we supplied the Quickstep Timber flooring.
The owners and our customer, Mathias and his wife Robin, envisioned a self-contained dwelling with breathtaking views, and he found the perfect location in Kaeo, Northland. Construction began in 2022.
The heart of the building is a kitset imported from the USA, with a unique spherical shape that maximizes the phenomenal views.
Getting there is an adventure in itself. It's a convenient 30-minute drive from Bay of Islands airport and Kerikeri to your hosts, followed by a short, exhilarating 4x4 buggy ride to your destination in the clouds.
An outside bath offers panoramic views of the countryside by day and a front-row seat to the celestial wonders at night, complete with shooting stars and the distant calls of kiwi birds.
A fire pit and a gas barbecue make cooking and entertaining a breeze, complemented by a fully equipped kitchen. For those seeking relaxation, there are walking trails to explore, books to read, and a cozy wood-burning fireplace for the colder months.
The interior design, done by Robin, is simply stunning. It's thoughtfully executed to provide everything you need without feeling cluttered.
Our stay in Kaeo left us feeling refreshed, revived, and renewed. We loved exploring the ever-changing landscape and getting lost in the tranquility of this special place.
